چکیده

The fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is an invasive insect pest of India native to the Western Hemisphere. damages more than 350 plant species. FAW genetically divided into two strains viz. corn (C) strain which feeds mostly on maize, sorghum, etc. and other a rice (R) that prefers small grasses. In present study, samples were collected from crop in different places Tamil Nadu, during 2019-20 identity was confirmed. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)- Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) profile mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I fragment confirmed presence both ‘R’ ‘C’ crop. Nucleotide variations observed PBS, TNAU isolate at five Killikulam isolate. Phylogenetic analysis revealed ON247930 (C strain) has completely diverged OM491244 (R strain).

Investigating the Molecular Mechanisms of Organophosphate and Pyrethroid Resistance in the Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda

The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda is an economically important pest of small grain crops that occurs in all maize growing regions of the Americas. The intensive use of chemical pesticides for its control has led to the selection of resistant populations, however, to date, the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance have not been characterised. In this study the mechanisms involved in t...

Natural Distribution of Parasitoids of Larvae of the Fall Armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, in Argentina

To develop a better understanding of the natural distribution of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), and to update the knowledge of the incidence of its complex of parasitoids. S. frugiperda, samplings in whorl-stage corn were carried out in provinces of Argentina from 1999 to 2003. S. frugiperda larvae were collected from corn in localities of the provinc...
